Also, you'll have to figure out if you'll risk spending money to upgrade your rig or save it to decrease the trace level when needed, which is always a tough choice. It is very non-linear, you can never be sure what the best way to proceed is, and there are non-essential things you can do, which may or may not be to your advantage: for instance, you may find a link to new servers that have money to steal, but they can also have nothing of interest and only serve to increase your trace level. You’ll have to delete “footprints” of your activities and pay your ISP to reset your IP, etc, to manage that and avoid getting traced. Each action raises your trace level if it gets to 100% you get traced and loose. Essentially, the gameplay is that of a slow paced puzzler where in each "level" you have to figure out the best way to complete the objectives (gain access to computers/systems, steal files/money, upload viruses/trojans, etc etc) by taking down security measures (passwords, encryption) in various nodes/computers in that screen, and also finding "hidden" ones. Although the atmosphere is right (the music, though not brilliant, helps) the presentation is limited and repetitive, there's not much to see. The game is mainly played in a command-line console, with some other monitor screens that are the same throughout the game. The intro of the story lacks a bit of depth and background, but you get the idea. Still, I was intrigued and started playing. (skip to the last paragraph, above the PS, if in a hurry) Right off, you notice that the game doesn't support 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions and the text is small and hard to see, and nothing can be done about that. I found myself having mixed feelings about it, and writing a lot, so bear it with me. I found myself having mixed Having only barely known about "hacking" games, I decided to give it a shot, as this game was on sale for 2€.
I've tried verifying the integrity of my files but still no joy, any idea what I can do to play this uninterrupted on my computer? If it helps I am running Windows 8.Having only barely known about "hacking" games, I decided to give it a shot, as this game was on sale for 2€.
Windows Event Viewer also seems to send an Information log as well which says the following:Ĭ:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Temp\Ĭ:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_Hacker Evolution_674b27cbc4a85e920dfb9ae77616e20d11cc37c_0a9ebb38_375ab872 The most annoying problem I'm having now is a random crash which is happening, it usually happens when I'm being traced but sometimes won't happen at all throughout a whole level, the Windows Event Viewer error logs are telling me the reason it crashed was due to "SDL2_mixer.dll"įaulting application name: Hacker Evolution Untold.exe, version: 4.1.0.0, time stamp: 0x537e6afbįaulting module name: SDL2_mixer.dll, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x52067b0bįaulting application start time: 0x01cf7772531b2dcaįaulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hacker Evolution Untold\Hacker Evolution Untold.exeįaulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hacker Evolution Untold\SDL2_mixer.dll I've since been having weird issues such as audio cutting out during the 10 second countdown when being traced but that isn't really a big problem. ogg and they seem to be working fine now. When I got access to my desktop again, I transferred my saved file over and have had nothing but problems since.įirst issue I had was with the audio engine, when the game reached the "hemusic2-djvelocity-intuition.mp3" or "hemusic-djvelocity-plasma.mp3" it would crash the whole game, to fix this I imported the corresponding MP3's for those songs from the previous game as. I then played a few stages of Hacker Evolution:Untold on my laptop with no issues at all.
I've purchased all the hacker evolution games and I am enjoying them a lot, I completed the normal Hacker Evolution on my desktop computer with no crashing issues at all. I've sent this issue off both to the support section on Exosyphen's site and an email address of one of the employees(Robert) but as of yet I've received no response so I'm going to post my problem here to see if any of you guys know what the issue may be.
